3/14/99: Sleepy Hollow, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 6th
Blizzard conditions. 10 place start. Just rode consistent and didn't try to do too much. I got my first trophy. The race was 5 laps. I couldn't feel my fingers for 4 of the 5 laps it was so cold. Overall a good way to start off the season.
(Moto 2) 250C: DNR
Cancelled because of snow.
Overall: 6th

3/21/99: Raceway Park, NJ (Moto 1) 250C: 19th
Let's just say it wasn't a happy birthday for me. I think I have Reynard's disease. I forgot how to get a good start. I rode pretty well, but the start just killed me. Practice this week will be about 80% starts. Thank goodness I will not have to wait long until the next race. The next race is a Saturday race at RWP.
(Moto 2) 250C: 14th
Reference Moto 1 mixed with a lot of rain. I think I'm gonna be sick!!
Overall: 14th

3/27/99: Raceway Park, NJ (Moto 1) 250C: 17th
Practice went great! I was clearing the staircase, which nobody else was doing in my class, and I was stylin' and profilin'. I went for one of the 70ft. triples and went about 67ft, but the landing is semi-forgiving. I had my head back at the gate, but didn't get a good drive coming out. I had to work my way through traffic to finish at 17th. I also decided to take the Jay Irwin Motocross School again. I though it would be good to get to practice starts, get more track time and just have some fun! I have gotten to know Jay and I think I can only learn from being around him. I am worlds better than last year, but I can always learn more and practice what I have learned. That's what I hope to get out of it.
(Moto 2) 250C: 13th
I finally got a good start. I was around 7th coming out of the first turn. Then my mind switched into, "Don't screw this up mode" and I rode tight the rest of the way. I hung with the leaders for 2 laps, so I know I can win, but my tight riding got the best of me. The track was really rough because it was the second to last moto of the day and that made things worse. I look forward to the next race. Even though there were only 27 guys at the gate, they were the top 27 guys from the previous moto.
Overall: 13th

4/11/99: Raceway Park, NJ (Moto 1) 250C: 4th
Well it's about time. All the work I have been doing finally paid off. The weather kept the # of squids down, so there was less than a full gate. I had a good jump at the gate, but traction was poor. The track was great, but the starting area was wet. I worked from about 17th up to fourth and could see the leader when I finished. I was the fastest guy on the track. I still rode a little tight, but a good ride overall. My friends said the announcer said my name and sponsors in both motos! I thought you would be glad to hear that.
(Moto 2) 250C: 5th
The start was better, but I was still around 9th. The track was wet, it was raining and traction was poor again. The rain started coming down and it was cold, so around lap 3 my goggles started fogging. I was in 5th and 4th and 3rd were right in front of me. The leader was very catchable as well, but because I couldn't see I started making mistakes. I made a couple of runs at 4th, but I just couldn't see. 6th was nowhere to be seen so I backed off a little and kept it on two wheels. It turned out that my overall wouldn't have changed even if I got third. The guy who won the second moto was the guy who I passed for 4th in the first moto. Next time I will put in my anti-fog lens when it gets cold and wet. I would have won the overall if I won the 2nd moto. These were my best moto finishes and overall so far, so I am happy. Now that I've been up front I look forward to winning next time out.
Overall: 4th

Jay Irwin MX School, RWP
I had so much fun the first time I took the class that I took it again. I have gotten to be friends with Jay and wanted some reinforcement from the first time I took the class. I had a great time! I pulled the holeshot everytime when the class was practicing starts. There were some beginners, but there were some guys I race with there too. I got a lot of track time at the end and rode for about 25 minutes at race speed. I didn't even get tired! I was happy to see that my endurance is up that much. I am going to race 2 classes at RWP now that my endurance is up. I had a fun day!
Overall: Fun Day

4/18/99: Pagoda, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 11th
This is the second time I have raced at this track. I raced here once last year. I got beat today by the track. There are some very big uphill and down hill doubles that I didn't feel comfortable doing. You either jump them or you don't. The landings didn't allow for anything in between. I plan on taking a day to go over to Pagoda and practice. I know I can jump these jumps, but it's just a matter of feeling comfortable. The first moto I started about 11th and finished there. I had clutch problems too, but I wouldn't have done much better.
(Moto 2) 250C: 17th
The second moto I was just looking for some track time. I aggravated an old leg injury coming up short on a double in the first moto and I just wanted to get home safe. So what happens. I got a decent start and I hit a rut the wrong way and washed out in the first turn. I got some scratches, but nothing major. I just practiced the rest of the moto. It was cut from 4 to 3 laps because of daylight. I am looking forward to RWP next weekend where I feel comfortable. I will have my clutch fixed and expect to do very well there.
Overall: 14th

4/25/99: Raceway Park, NJ (Moto 1) 250C: 7th
Pretty bad jump at the gate. I had to work through the pack. I had an o.k. ride. Not much else exciting to say about this moto.
(Moto 2) 250C: 12th
Now there's a lot more to say about this moto. I usually ride much better the second moto and it was true right from the start. I was in around 6th place after the first few turns. Then I got a little anxious and ran into the back tire of the guy in front of me. I tend to take the turn we were in faster than others and he didn't. My fault though. I should have been more patient. Well when I crashed the whole field went by so I had my work cut out for me. I passed a bunch of people and then something else went wrong. These 2 guys must have crashed into one another and they were at the top of this steep downhill/uphill section. I had nowhere to go because one of the guys was right in my line. I was stuck for about 10-15 seconds behind this guy sliding down on to me. Finally, I get around him and I am pissed because I passed all these guys and now I'm slowed again. I think I ride better when I'm aggressive, but it's a shame it takes stuff like that to get me going. This ride, when I was on 2 wheels and guys weren't falling in front of me, was my best ride to date. I am going to practice being aggressive from the beginning of the moto and I know I can win. Thank you to all my sponsors for being supportive and patient with me.
Overall: 8th

(Moto 1) +25B: 21st
I didn't try to win this moto. I used it as practice and tried to find some good lines for my 250C moto. The moto fell in between my 250C motos. The moto was a qualifier and I didn't qualify for the second moto.
(Moto 2) +25B: DNQ
I didn't qualify for the combined second moto
Overall: ? I didn't qualify for the second combined moto.

5/2/99: Flying Dutchman, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 22nd
This was my first time at this track. The track wasn't difficult, but it was very slick and tight. I am not used to that and I wasn't really sure which jumps had landings I had to make and which didn't. I had 2 laps of practice and 1 +25B moto (3 laps) and I still wasn't sure about the layout of the track so I took it easy. A bad start didn't help
(Moto 2) 250C: 16th
My second moto went better, but I still got a bad start. I rode much better and was getting used to the track. I had my mind in slow mode all day. Believe me when I say I HATE doing that, but I know that it's better to learn these new tracks I am going to and live to race another day. I hope you all understand that 2 laps of practice and some motos just isn't enough to be competitive. I will get more familiar with these tracks the more I go and I can't go if I am hurt. I want to win. My results at RWP prove to me that I can be competitive and I will win there before anywhere else because I am used to the track and I practice on the same type of soil. The other tracks will take some more time, but I will broaden the types of track I am competitive on.
Overall: 19th

(Moto 1) +25B: 26th
The starting gate at this track is weird and the first turn its very deceiving so it will take some getting used to. The way the gate is facing is diagonal to the first turn so you come out of the gate at a 45 degree angle. Anyway, this was my first moto and I didn't know what was after what so I took it easy.
(Moto 2) +25B: 24th
I got a pretty good start and was riding really well. I definitely like racing with the faster guys. I helps me become a better rider. As I was saying, I was doing really well until a rider came in from behind and took me out. He came into the corner to hot and clipped my back tire. Normally, this wouldn't cause me to go down, but it was a hard hit and follow through. Anyway, we both wound up going down and the field passed us. I used the rest of the moto to learn the track a little more instead of trying to catch up with everyone.
Overall: 26th

5/8/99: Raceway Park, NJ (Moto 1) 250C: 11th
I wheelied off the start which neutralized my good reaction time. I started around 15 and passed 4 guys. I can't wait to move on to the amateur class because novice riders don't hold their lines. It's dangerous. Every time I went to pass this one guy he would drift right in front of me. I lost a lot of time trying to pass people without crashing. I don't think I rode particularly well anyway.
(Moto 2) 250C: DNS
I got a great jump at the gate and I was around 3rd going into the first turn. I started braking for the turn and the guy who won the first moto crashed right into the back of me. He didn't have a great jump at the gate and was trying to squeeze in were there was no room. So he wound up taking us both out. My pipe got smashed and I didn't race that moto.
Overall: 40th

(Moto 1) +25B: 16th
I didn't ride particularly well, but I did get a good jump at the gate. I didn't wind up getting a great start though. The amateurs are faster than me, but I would rather be last in this class than ride with a bunch of idiots in the novice class. Plus I can learn to be faster riding in this class.
(Moto 2) +25B: 11th
Well this moto went better. I actually passed a few amateurs. I rode much better. As the day goes on I seem to relax more and I am more aggressive. I like riding in this class even though I am not as competitive. I can actually trust the people I am riding with and that helps me to be more aggressive.
Overall: 14th

5/30/99: Sleepy Hollow, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 16th
My jump at the gate was good, but I wheelied. I have to get used to starting on surfaces other than sand. My problem is that I wheelie and then have to shut off. Anyway, after the start I rode, no offense to women, like a girl. My 3 week layoff from riding really hurt. I had some bike problems and couldn't ride for 3 weeks. I rode tight and didn't feel very comfortable.
(Moto 2) 250C: 14th
My start was better, but I didn't have much nerve going into the first turn. It was pretty dusty and hard to see so I backed off a little. Finally around the last lap of the race I started feeling comfortable. I passed some guys back that had passed me and ended up on an up note. I went out on Memorial Day in the 90 degree heat and practiced for 2 hours and got reaquainted with my bike. I felt very comfortable and I decided to race the upcoming weekend.
Overall: 15th

6/7/99: Pagoda, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 8th
I had a good practice, but I still wasn't doing all the jumps. At this track there are a lot of big jumps and if you don't do them you are at a definite disadvantage. A lot of people that race here are in the club that runs the track and they get to practice on the track all the time so many of them, even in the novice class, can and do all the big jumps. I had a terrible start. I had a good jump but when I hit the gate I wheelied and had to back off. I rode pretty well the whole moto. The start is sooooo critical and I am getting better each week (reference +25B below). On the last lap I did the biggest downhill double there. It was a good way to end the race and one more jump that I will do when I go back.
(Moto 2) 250C: DNR
Moto 2 was cancelled due to a rider getting injured. They had to bring in a helicopter. There were 6 separate times that an ambulance had to come out on to the track. That is proof on how big these jumps are.
Overall: 8th

(Moto 1) +25B: 8th
Even though there were only 10 riders in the class my second place start was a confidence booster. I stayed in second until the end of the first lap. These guys are faster than me, but they also do the jumps. At this track, that is crutial.

7/3/99: Doublin Gap, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 14th
My start was not good. The time off because of my injury hurt me. I rode tight and I was not aggressive. The temp was around 100 degrees, but it didn't bother me. My forearms pumped up and I just didn't ride well.

7/4/99: Doublin Gap, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 15th
I got a great start. I was in 5th at the end of the first lap. The guy in front of me went into a corner that was really rutted and he bobbled. He got through o.k., but I was comitted to the same line and I was thinking about his bobble. I went into the corner and wound up falling because I misjudged the rut. My bike fell into a tire that was used to mark the track. It took me a while to get it out. I was in last by the time I got going again.
(Moto 2) 250C: 5th
I got another good start. I was in 5th around the first corner. I rode o.k. I finished in 5th, but I was pretty tired by then end. My endurance needs work because of the time off. I am going to practice hard this week and get ready for RWP this weekend.
Overall: 9th
On a separate note...This weekend at Doublin Gap was the first half of a competition between Doublin Gap and RWP. I am on the RWP team. We got beat at there track, but we look to win at RWP. The race was 1 moto/6 laps and was scored like the Motocross Des Nations. The winning team gets $1000. The team is 7 experts, 7 amatures and 2 alternates. I am one of the alternates because I am a novice rider.

7/11/99: Raceway Park, NJ (Moto 1) 250C: 10th
Horrible start. I got sideways and came through the first turn in about 20th. I went off the track in the next turn and came back on in about 25th. I rode very well and charged through the pack a well as I could. I got a little tired at the end, but it was a good ride overall. I was disappointed getting 10th, but all things considered it was a good ride.
(Moto 2) 250C: 8th
I got a much better start this time. I was in about 7th or 8th after the first couple of corners. I definitely rode better in the first moto. The track was a lot rougher in the second moto and I got tired quick. I thought my stamina was back up from my injury, but it obviously wasn't. I tried a hard as I could, but I knew I was tight. The big positive out of the whole race was I started doing the 65' tabletop/triple. I did it once in the first moto and every lap in the second moto. I was making up a lot of time by doing because most guys in the C class don't jump it. Once my stamina is back up to par I can take advantage of doing it. Next week it's off to Doublin Gap for another 2 day event. I really enjoy doing the 2 day events. A full weekend of moto x, what could be better?
Overall: 7th
On a separate note...RWP won the team race between RWP and Doublin Gap (scroll up to 7/4/99 moto 2 for more info). I was on the team as an alternate because they wanted 7 experts and 7 amateurs. I didn't race in either moto, but I got to meet and help out a lot of very nice people! I would like to thank RWP for having me on the team, Mike Rossini, David Kratz, Jim Macilvain, Pete Jestremski, Brad Baxton, Ryan Mills, Tom Burton, Ty Wallace and everyone else on the team (including wives and girlfriends) for making my experience so fulfilling.

7/17/99: Doublin Gap, PA (Moto 1) 250C: 5th
Another 100 degree race day. I actually like the heat. Probably because everybody else hates it. I had a decent start and finished in about in the same place. I rode ok, but I need to be more aggressive.
(Moto 2) 250C: 5th
Moto 2 went just like the first one. My best lap was the last one I rode. I like that because I shows me that my stamina is coming back.
Overall: 5th

7/18/99: Doublin Gap, PA (Moto 1) +25B: 8th
I got a 4th out of the first turn. This was the first 6 lap race I've ever ridden. I was pretty hot and tired after. I rode very aggressive and I was happy to beat 5 amateurs. I was really looking forward to my 250C moto. I figured if I could beat 5 amateurs I should really do well in the novice class.
(Moto 2) +25B: 10th
I got a dead last start, but rode well again. I think we only did 5 laps in the second moto because of daylight.
Overall: 9th

(Moto 1) 250C: 13th
My start was poor! I was in last place in the first turn. I rode as hard as I could. I am very disappointed. I didn't ride super great either. I did ride hard and aggressive the whole time though. My mind is in the right place, but I need to pick up my corner speed and starts. There were some fast guys in my class this weekend.
(Moto 2) 250C: 11th
I got a better start, but still not where I need to be to run up front. I was in about 15th after the first turn. I didn't ride well in the corners. I keep down shifting and then coming out of the corner I am in too high a gear. I did ride as hard as I could, but didn't have enough to catch up to the lead pack. This was the last moto of the weekend so I think I rode tighter because I was tired, but I still need to be faster in the corners.
