8/1/99: Hurricane Hills, PA
(Moto 1) 250C: 12th
It was my first time at this track. I really enjoyed it a lot. My reaction at the start was good, but I wheelied. I was in the back and worked my way up. I rode well, but I lost a lot of time on the first lap.
(Moto 2) 250C: 6th
My start was much better this time. I actually had the holeshot, but made a mistake in the first corner and I got pushed out. I was still in 5th for half the moto. One guy got by but, I held my position for the rest of the race. I held off 7th place for about a lap and a half. He was right on my butt until the last few corners. It was a good race.
Overall: 10th

(Moto 1) +25B: 8th
I was in the middle of the small pack off the start. I wound up riding well and the track time was a plus. The guys at this track were just faster than me. I keep trying though.
(Moto 2) +25B: 6th
My goal was to get a good start. I knew I couldn't win so I should try to use this as a practice moto. The first thing I should practice is my starts. I got a good jump and drive out of the gate. I was in the top 3 going into the first turn. I was very aggressive and we were banging bars. Nothing dirty just good clean racing. I wound up in fourth and then got passed by 2 more riders. I was very happy with my start. If there were more guys there I feel it would have been more impressive, but I know I did everything right. I rode the rest of the race as a good practice.
Overall: 6th Place

8/8/99: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 17th
It was a mess! It hasn't rained for weeks and the day it decides to rain is a race day. My start was ok, but trying to stay up was not. The track was a mess and it only got worse.
(Moto 2) +25B: DNS
I didn't race the second moto because I wanted a clean bike and clothes for my 250C race which was 3 motos after this one.
Overall: 17th

(Moto 1) 250C: 10th
Moto 1 was a qualifier. The top 20 went to the finals. My start was great! Second place into the first turn. I got on the gas a little to hard considering the weather and got sideways. After the first couple of turns I was in 4th. I stayed in 4th for 1 1/2 laps. Then I crashed. I guess it took me a while to get going again because I finished in 10th and I passed some of the guys that passed me. It felt good to be up front again. I like it there!
(Moto 2) 250C: 23rd
I thought I was a pretty good mud rider until this moto. The track got worse throughout the day and I stunk it up this moto. I got a top 10 start. I can't remember how many times I crashed, but it was a lot. Everybody had to ride in the same crap though. That is everybody who stayed around. I lost my aggressiveness after about the third fall and couldn't get it back after that. I did finish the race which was all I wanted to do after a while. My lines, when I could find them, were not coming together. I look forward to next weekend and hope it doesn't rain like that again, ever!
Overall: 21st

8/15/99: Doublin Gap, PA
(Moto 1) 250C: 20th
I didn't get a good jump out of the gate, but I made up for it in the first cormer. Then I got hit from behind and pushed out wide. Once I recovered I proceeded to jump the first jump and 2 guys crashed in front of me while I was in the air. I had nowhere to go. I hit 1 of them and that moto was done. I rode hard, but everybody had at least a 30 second head start.
(Moto 2) 250C: 15th
I got a better jump and start. I was 5th through the first couple of turns. They had regroomed the track to the point that if you let off the gas it was like hitting the brakes. There were no lines anywhere and as I went into a corner I let off the gas too soon and fell over. I kept the bike running, but a lot of people got around because it was still the first lap. I had a few other little problems which resulted in my poor finish. I can't wait for RWP next week.
Overall: 17th

(Moto 1) +25B: 3rd
There was only 1 moto in between my 250c and this one so it was good training for my endurance. I got a good start. I was in the top 4! Well, there were only 4 people in this class though. I rode hard, had fun and I didn't get tired.
(Moto 2) +25B: 3rd
See moto 1 explaination.
Overall: 3rd

8/22/99: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) 250C: 8th
I got a top 10 start. I had some problems with people crashing in front of me. I rode pretty well though and would have finished in the top 5.
(Moto 2) 250C: 5th
I had another top 10 start. I would love to get a top 3 start and see what pace the leaders are running. I think I can run with them if I give myself the opportunity. I had a great battle with 4th place throughout the second moto. We were passing each other back and forth the whole time. I was faster in the whoops and on the jumps, but I had problems picking good lines in some corners and that's where he would get me. He beat me by a foot or two at the finish. Next time I'll let it hang out a little more and get that position.
Overall: 5th

(Moto 1) +25B: 28th
I got a horrible start, but was running in the top 15 until a guy re-entering the track caused me some problems. I stalled in a bad place on the track and a number of guys got by.
(Moto 2) +25B: 25th
Another bad start. I used the moto as practice to work on my cornering. I think I know why my problem is. I tend to drop my elbows and try to steer in the turn. I found when I keep my elbows up and get as far forward as possible in the rutted corners, I flow through much better. Staying a gear higher and slipping the clutch helped me as well.
Overall: 24th

8/27/99: Broome-Tioga, NY
(Moto 1) +25B: 25th
I had a decent start. I had a hard time getting comfortable on this track. I didn't feel comfortable with the steep, short landings they had for the jumps. I was kind of slick because it rained a lot the night before. I was in around 12th when I crashed.
(Moto 2) +25B: 19th
I had a decent start again and I rode much better this moto. The conditions were better and I was more comfortable.
Overall: 23th

(Moto 1) 250C: 11th
I had a good start. I was in about 6th and I was still having trouble getting comfortable with the track. I held on for 11th which was pretty good considering how poorly I rode
(Moto 2) 250C: 11th
I had another good start. I didn't get a great jump at the gate, but I was in 6th again after the first turn. I re-aggravated a stress fracture in my leg and tweaked me knee in the last moto the day before. I don't want to make excuses, but it was hard to be aggressive on top of not feeling very comfortable with the track. I was lucky again to finish 11th all things considered.
Overall: 11th

9/4/99: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25C: 9th
My start was good (top 10), but the rest of the moto went down hill from there. I passed some guys and then got into trouble with slower guys in front of me. My bike was not working very well. It got really choppy and I felt every little bump. I can't wait to get my new bike for next year. Honda has worked out the problems with the rear shock and the rigidness of the frame. I rode my friends bike the next day through a very rough section of a practice track we were at. The difference was night and day. I don't want to make excuses, but when guys are passing me that I never see out there because they're always behind me, I know there's something going on. I was really fast in practice too, but they put a bunch of new dirt down this week and it got very choppy. I tried to make some adjustments in between motos, but it didn't workout.
P.S.- It was Vet and Vintage day. That's why I only could run 1 class and why it was +25C.
(Moto 2) 250C: 11th
Same as moto 1, but even choppier.
Overall: 10th

9/12/99: Doublin Gap, PA
(Moto 1) 250C: 9th
My jump at the gate was great, but I shifted too early. I got into a bar banging duel with the guys on both sides of me. I came out of the first couple turns in about 20th. I rode pretty well and my bike was pretty good. I thought I finished higher than I did.
(Moto 2) 250C: 10th
My start was better. I was in 9th through the first couple of turns. The track got a lot rougher and it was the same story as last week. I couldn't go fast in the turns. My bike was killing me. I don't know what else to say. I rode as hard as I could and kept it on two wheels.
Overall: 9th

(Moto 1) +25B: 5th
I had a 2 moto break in between. I felt pretty good at the beginning. I was in 2nd for a lap and then in 3rd for 2 laps. I started getting tired on lap 2 and rode as hard as I could. Next year will be a different story. I can't ride the way I am capable of riding because of the bike. It's not my lack of training, desire or skill.
(Moto 2) +25B: 7th
I had a poor jump at the gate and was in last from start to finish. I wasn't very inspired because of the rough track and knowing that I couldn't go fast after the short break. I used the time on the track to work on keeping my bike low in the air and I worked on my turns.
Overall: 7th

10/2/99: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) 250C: 14th
I had a great start until a guy came up from behind and got his front wheel caught on my footpeg. I was in about 21st place after I got going. I passed as many people as I could, but ran out of time.
(Moto 2) 250C: 28th
I had a decent start from what I can remember. My head was still a little whoosy from my crash in the +25B moto. After a lap I was in around 10th and I went down in the same section again. This time is wasn't my fault. A guy hit a big whoop and bounced right in front of me. He was about 8 feet away before he hit the whoop and I had nowhere to go. I crashed right into his back tire. It broke my fork guard, but my front brake line was still attached. It kept hitting my spokes so I just rode around slowly because all I needed happen was another crash.
Overall:22nd

(Moto 1) +25B: DNF
My start was great. My new bike really hooked up and I was in 2nd coming out of the first turn. After the first couple of turns I was in 4th and going well. Then I hit this whooped out section. I wheelied over the first, but didn't make it over the second one. My front end dropped and I was tossed. I was in the middle of the track with 36 riders behind me. By the time I got back on my bike I saw my bars were bent, my subframe was bent and my clutch perch had broken. I called it a race and went back to the pits to fix my bike for the next moto.
(Moto 2) +25B: DNS
Another bad start. I used the moto as practice to work on my cornering. I think I know why my problem is. I tend to drop my elbows and try to steer in the turn. I found when I keep my elbows up and get as far forward as possible in the rutted corners, I flow through much better. Staying a gear higher and slipping the clutch helped me as well.
Overall:40th

10/17/99: Pagoda, PA
(Moto 1) 250C: 7th
Good start. I was in about 4th. I started jumping almost everything on the track. There were a few jumps I still wasn't doing which hurt me on the last lap. I was in 4th until the last lap. I wasn't jumping one of the step ups and I got passed by two guys in the air.
(Moto 2) 250C: 9th
I was determined to jump everything this moto. I didn't get a great jump at the gate. I was mid-pack after the first turn. I made my way up and was behind 2 guys for a couple of laps. They weren't jumping some of the big jumps and I couldn't do them because they were in the way. I got passed one of them on the step up I wasn't jumping in the first moto. At the finish there is a 30 long 10 foot high step up. The guy I was trying to pass went right up the middle of the jump, but didn't jump it. He then proceeded to drift inside. Everybody knows if you are not going to jump a jump like this you should go to the inside or outside. They even said it during the riders meeting. But this idiot obviously didn't attend the riders meeting. And you don't have to go to a riders meeting to know that you should always hold your line on and off of a jump! This guy did neither and I went for the jump trusting I would get 1 out of the 2 afore mentioned things. I got neither and I landed on the side of him and when I put my leg out to brace my fall I sprained my knee very severely. I am done for the season because of this jerk. The guy didn't even come back to see if I was ok. He probably thought it was my fault for landing on him. IDIOT!!!!!!!!

Overall for 1999
This was my second year racing. I have to say that I was disappointed in my results for the year. I improved from the previous year, but injuries and bike setup really held me back. I definitely learned a lot though. I will get healthy during the off season and a learn how to setup my bike. I will definitely be ready in the year 2000.
