2/11/01: Budds Creek, MD
(Moto 1) +25B: ?
I went to Budds Creek to get comfortable with racing again. It has been 9 months since I got hurt. I wanted to come away healthy. That was my main goal. I was not happy with my suspension setup and I haven't ridden much because of the weather. At the start I let everyone go I put in some good, but cautious laps. I had a lot of time between 2 practices and the moto. They only ran 1 moto per class due to the amount of riders, 800! I came away healthy and I look forward to a great season in the B class full time. It was a successful weekend of riding. I did not wait for the results of my moto because I didn't place well and I had a long ride home.
(Moto 2) +25B: DNR
They cancelled the second motos due to the number of riders there and the amount of daylight.

3/24/01: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 22nd
I was really excited to be racing at Raceway Park again. I didn't get a good start, but that's o.k. I haven't raced for a while and my timing is a bit off. I didn't have the stamina to be up front anyway. I did all 5 laps which is an accomplishment in itself all things considered. I need a lot more time on my bike before I can push it out there. Today was a good base from which to start. I am still working on my knee and getting it back to 100%.
(Moto 2) +25B: 22nd
My start was even worse than the first moto, but that's o.k. I need track time and that's what I got. I felt like I could go fast, but only for short periods of time. I am confident that I will be able to run up front as long as I keep riding a lot. I just need riding stamina. I will be patient.
Overall: 20th

8/5/01: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 27th
This was my first real race in about a year and a half. I have been riding for a month and a half or so. I haven't been doings motos though. I have been trying to get comfortable again. I am feeling better than ever on my bike, but my endurance is not there. My start was very bad. I was at the back. The heat was really bad! This did not help matters. I rode bad, tight and tired. I didn't give up and finished the moto. I wasn't feeling well after the moto, but got some fluids and something to eat. My knee felt strong which was a positive.
(Moto 2) +25B: 18th
My start was as bad as the first moto, but that's o.k. I thought the heat would be a factor for me like in the first moto, so I didn't prepare my gate. The last thing I needed was to get a good start and try pushing it in the heat in my first race back. Surprisingly, the heat wasn't a factor at all in the second moto. I got tired, but that's expected at this point. I had no arm pump all day which surprised me. I am going to start doing motos in practice from now on. I should be much better prepared for the race on 8/19/00.

8/19/01: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 20th
Bad start. After the first few turns I was mid pack. Then I fell. Last place. Then I fell again. Last place. Then I fell again. Last place. Then I finished ahead of 2 guys. Bad moto, but I never gave up.
(Moto 2) +25B: 14th
Good jump. Bad start. Bad moto! I didn't fall, but I rode like s*%#. I wasn't comfortable. I wasn't holding the bike with my legs. I got tired. And on and on. But I gave everything I had. I know I can ride better. I just have to do it for more than a few turns. I am happy to be riding and racing again. I am doing as much as I can without riding over my comfort level. Things will come. I just have to be patient. I've come this far.

9/1/01: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 19th
My start was bad. I hate saying the same stuff over and over again each week, but I guess I need to be patient. I am not being aggressive enough because I am afraid of not being ready to be aggressive. I want to be more aggressive, but I think I will wait till next year to push it. I have 2-3 more races I am going to do this year and then get back in the gym to do more rehab on my knee. I think that's the best thing for the long term.
(Moto 2) +25B: 23rd
My start was actually good. I was top ten going into the first corner, but last coming out. I got run into and crashed (not hard). Normally I would gotten through it, but I have my "careful" hat on. I am not being aggressive and it's costing me. I think that next race I am going to push it a little more. I didn't ride much over the last three weeks due to life and the weather and that's how I got hurt last year. I think my knee is much stronger than before I got hurt, but I am still gun shy.

9/8/01: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 20th
Mid pack start. I rode O.K. I don't feel comfortable yet, but my stamina is slowly coming back. I keep improving in some facet in every moto so that's a positive.
(Moto 2) +25B: 15th
I decided it was time to get a good start. I was being to nice in the first turn. This time is was aggressive and banged my way to the holeshot. I got hit and my handguard got pushed down so I couldn't grab my front brake. I dropped back to 3rd and ran in the top 6 for a few laps. Then I got tired. I wasn't jumping a new section and dropped back. I figured I could have finished top 10 if I were jumping it.

9/9/01: Raceway Park, NJ
(Moto 1) +25B: 13th
Even though there were less people, the top guys from the previous day were all still there. I was tired from racing the previous day so my results were off. I had a good start. I was top 8 through the first turn and top 5 after a few turns. I really didn't have energy though and the track was left rough from the day before. There is a lot of sand at Raceway and it's not forgiving. I rode O.K. and started jumping part of the new section I wasn't jumping the day before. It saves a lot of time.
(Moto 2) +25B: 14th
I was done before the gate dropped. I don't think my focus was getting a good start and it showed. I wheelied out of the gate and had to back off. I had nothing for the track. It was the roughest I have ever seen it! I had some close calls and backed it off.

Overall for 2001
I never really got it going this year. My knee was still a problem. I was hoping it wouldn't be, but it was. I had another surgery which has helped out a lot. By the time I was done recovering from that, the season was almost over. There was no use in trying to push it and get injured again when the wasn't much to gain. So in the off-season I am going to look for a house. This will allow me to have my bike and me under the same roof. It will allow me to practice and work on my bike much more easily. I definitely had good speed at the end of this year, but no stamina. I will be able to take care of this for next year and go full ahead with my racing.
